Herno was founded in 1949 by Giuseppe Marenzi, initially focusing on the production of men's raincoats, and later creating a sportswear line for men and women, eventually opening a showroom in Milan, in Via Sant'Andrea. With the 80s the popularity of the brand grew dramatically, producing for brands such as Jil Sander, Armani, Prada, Hermès, Louis Vuitton and Ralph Lauren. The company then passed into the hands of the founder's sons, with Claudio Marenzi, president of Pitti Immagine and former president of Confindustria Moda, as managing director, presenting in 2008, on the occasion of the 73rd edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo, a limited collection of 12 “L'Herno de Luxe Trench”, then being awarded in 2011 as the best Italian entrepreneurial reality. In 2009 Herno launched a collection inspired by bikers, with highly technological and elegant garments, enjoying success and opening stores all over the world. The brand also boasts several important collaborations, including the one with milano140 in 2018, in 2022 with Paul&Shark and in 2023 with FC Barcelona. Also in 2023 Marenzi leaves the post of managing director to Gabriele Baldinotti, continuing to exercise the role in the administrative and financial fields, focusing on the development of Montura, a company acquired at the end of 2021.
