Founded in 1968 by the designer and entrepreneur Calvin Klein and his partner, B. Schwartz, the brand, with its clean and minimal lines, rocketed right away, so that a year later this distinctive minimalist style appeared on the cover of Vogue magazine.
At the end of the 1970s, the company launched its first line of perfumes, became nowadays a classic as "CK One", whose advertising campaign, in which the first Kate Moss model appeared half-naked, stirred up some controversy.
It is in 1990s, that the brand reaches the success with the launch of the new men's underwear line, under the designer's John Varvatos guidance. For the first time, it was presented an hybrid between a boxer and a pant, and thanks to the campaign with the famous pop singer Mark "Mark Mark" Wahlberg, it was the greatest revolution of that century. The product has been indelibly associated with the CK brand, to the point of being often called "calvins".
In 2002, Calvin Klein sold the brand to the PVH (Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation). From 2003 to 2016, the artistic direction of the women's line was entrusted by designer F. Costa and the male one, by I. Zucchelli. Starting in August 2016, the creative director of the maison is Raf Simons, whose collections will debut in the Autumn-Winter 2017 season.
