Sacai is a Japanese luxury brand specialized in the production of clothing. The brand embodies the concept of hybridization: through overlapping and experimental combinations, reinterprets the taste of the classic to create new Avantgarde silhouettes, a succession of volumes, shapes and overlaps. The collection of women’s clothing by Sacai with a distinctive and contemporary elegance is designed to give life to clothes with timeless charm, and unique design: objective that is realized through the destructured coats with applications in contrasting materials, maxi dresses, knitwear and leather jackets with nylon inserts, flared skirts. The women’s accessories line, introduced in 2017, is complete with leather bags, boots and sneakers. The Sacai men’s clothing collection follows the same common thread: shirts with contrasting prints and details, deconstructed denim jackets, padded jackets with knitted inserts, Jersey sweatshirts are the result of a continuous transformation of the basic elements of clothing and traditional shapes, thus leaving space for completely innovative shapes.
Sacai’s collections represent conceptual fashion in the deepest way, where, through creativity and technical knowledge of fabrics, different elements come together to create a harmonious union in a single universe, a universe of opposites. The creations of the brand are born from reworkings and transformations of the classic taste, from combinations of contrasting textures: the result are volumes and hybrid and avantgarde silhouettes. The experimental approach thus represents the element of originality, an element that has led Sacai to stand out for its fluid, contemporary and extremely innovative style, where underground charm finds a refined interpretation.
Chitose Abe, designer and president of the brand, founded Sacai in 1999 in Tokyo, Japan. Abe, endowed with a visionary approach and strong creative sensibility, has received training from the leading exponents of Japanese conceptual fashion, from the collaboration with Rei Kawakubo’s Comme des Garçons to the apprenticeship with Junya Watanabe: experiences that have led the designer to mature a culture and an extraordinary knowledge of the rules of dress. Sacai debuts on the catwalks of the Paris Fashion Week 2009: since then, the brand has always remained faithful to its free and independent spirit, in fact, maintaining its headquarters and total production in Japan. The brand, distributed in more than 200 stores in the world, boasts collaborations with Nike, Converse, The North Face, Apple. In 2021 she collaborated with Dior in a limited edition collection, Dior Men x Sacai, which combines Japanese aesthetics with French couture.
