Kith reinvents West Hollywood: the new flagship in the former Fred Segal

In brief: Kith has reopened its West Hollywood flagship in the former Fred Segal space, and it has become the brand's largest store in the world. Warm woods, stone and a listening lounge: more a house in the Los Angeles hills than a store.

When a brand born in New York decides to celebrate Los Angeles, the risk is caricature. Kith did the opposite: it took the ground floor of the legendary space that once belonged to Fred Segal, on Sunset Boulevard, and turned it into its largest store in the world, a place that seems designed to be lived in rather than shopped in. The result recalls not a department store, but a refined house in the California hills.

Behind the project is founder Ronnie Fieg, who worked alongside architect Ben Porto to shape an idea of relaxed, very West Coast luxury. The Venetian plaster walls, the fine stone thresholds, the polished concrete floors softened by rugs and the worked wood ceilings build a warm atmosphere, considered down to the last detail, far from the coldness of so much retail design. Outside, the charred-wood cladding, done in the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban technique, plays off the lush greenery, echoing the spirit of the place.

Not just a store

The new flagship does not stop at selling clothes and sneakers. It introduces the first beauty concept in Kith's history, but above all it takes the idea of the store-as-experience to another level. At the heart of this philosophy is the VIP Studio, a velvet listening lounge with vinyl selections, cocktails and a custom McIntosh sound system branded Kith Records. Next door, the Ronnie's Pronto café completes a journey designed to make people linger, not hustle them out the door with a shopping bag.

It is a move perfectly consistent with what Kith has become over the years, much more than a streetwear store. Born from Fieg's passion for sneakers and raised on memorable collaborations, from New Balance on down, the brand has built a world made of fashion, culture, food and community. A world that in Los Angeles finally finds its biggest, most ambitious home.

Kith documented the reopening on its official channels too:

Why it matters

The opening says a lot about where the best retail is heading: no longer mere points of sale, but spaces that want to build a bond, offer an experience, give you a reason to come back. Whether you are a sneaker enthusiast or simply curious about design, the new Kith in West Hollywood deserves a visit, if only to understand what the store of the future will look like.

📸 In short

Not a store but a house in the L.A. hills: Kith reopens its West Hollywood flagship in the former Fred Segal, its largest worldwide, with a listening lounge and café. The future of retail.
