Moncler: the timeless success of the iconic down jacket

Moncler is a luxury brand that offers collections for women, men and children. In all its lines, Moncler presents its workhorse, the down jacket, designed and created in infinite colors, fabrics and different but unique styles. Women’s down jackets with hood, men’s sleeveless down jackets, but the brand’s creativity goes far beyond: in the men’s line the down jackets blend with the cardigan, while in the women’s line is the skirt that becomes the brand’s trademark spokesperson. Even in the production of shoes, Moncler decides to infuse its style, both in women’s boots and in men’s sneakers, keeping intrinsic, in the lines, the memory of those places and most extreme climates where the brand was born.

The origins of the name are contained in its roots: Moncler is in fact the abbreviation of Monestier-de-clermont, a mountain village near Grenoble. Here René Ramillon and Andrè Vincent founded in 1952 the company that will give life to the famous down jacket. In the eighties, the designer Chantal Thomass, who worked with the company until 1989, revisited the look of the classic down jacket by replacing the zippers with buttons and introducing edges in fur, satin and reversible fabrics. In 2003, the brand was bought by the Italian entrepreneur Remo Ruffini, the current President and CEO, to whom we owe the strategy of the global down jacket and for which, to date, when we talk about down jacket, par excellence, we immediately think of Moncler.
