Pelagia Kolotouros: The New Chapter of Lacoste at Roland-Garros
On the prestigious grounds of Roland-Garros, the temple of French tennis, a runway show marked the beginning of a new era for Lacoste, the historic French fashion house symbolizing sports elegance. Last Tuesday, Pelagia Kolotouros made her debut as the new artistic director with a Fall-Winter 2024/25 collection that redefines the concept of sportswear with a minimalist and contemporary aesthetic.
The Greek-American designer's show not only represents her debut at the creative helm of Lacoste but also pays homage to the legacy of René Lacoste, blending Parisian elegance with sportswear comfort in a bold and renewed mix.

Trained at the Parsons School of Design in New York and drawing from experiences with brands like The North Face and Adidas, Kolotouros embraces the challenge of revitalizing the brand, aiming for a return to the spotlight while respecting the founder's identity and values.
With this collection, she charts a path reflecting René Lacoste's legendary career, from his triumph in the 1927 Davis Cup to the launch of the iconic piqué cotton polo in 1933. It was a golden era for French tennis that the artistic director reinterprets with a modern language, where elegance and practicality blend into a perfect balance of tradition and innovation.

This new Lacoste proposition stands out for its bold interpretation of classic sportswear: oversized leather polos, pleated skirts, tweed coats with a strong structure, and vintage blousons, not forgetting the ultra-chic silk viscose jumpsuits. The color palette plays with green, black, and terracotta shades, enriched with references to the 1920s, such as bouclée wool coats and scarves worn as ties.

The "Crocodile," the iconic emblem of the maison, finds new interpretations: it appears in all-over patterns on refined garments, in playful patches, and as belt buckles, demonstrating attention to detail that underscores Kolotouros's winning strategy.
With this debut runway show, the artistic director not only clinches victory but also establishes herself as the new spokesperson for a brand that, more than ever, projects towards the future without forgetting the roots that made it great.
