Stella McCartney, a brand that has always been sensitive to environmentalism, has chosen to introduce a completely revolutionary fabric into the fashion system. The Stella McCartney tote bag, hand-drawn and presented for the first time during the FW23, features a circular logo and embroidered with the iconic burgundy toile de jouy "Fungi Forest" print. 

Hannes Schoenegger, the CEO of Bananatex, says the fact that the British brand prefers the use of circular materials is "an important milestone" in the history of fashion.

The Bananatex comes from Abacá banana plants in the Philippines that in addition to being an abundant species in the local eco system, is grown naturally without the use of pesticides. In particular the leafs once they are harvested they decompose and thus create a 100% natural fertilizer contributing " positively to the reforestation of areas of the Philippines that were once occupied by palm monocultures". Thanks to these prerequisites and results, Bananatex has obtained the Cradle to Cradle Gold certification, the most advanced global standard for products manufactured in a responsible and circular way.

The vegan fabric chosen by Stella McCartney is therefore considered ideal for accessories, as its strength and durability allow it to produce "a high quality canvas, similar to cotton". Bananatex is therefore the turning point: the sustainable alternative to synthetic materials and animal skin.
