Woolrich and the rail of success.

Woolrich John Rich & Bros. is a successful brand known everywhere around the world for its outerwear like parkas, the famous red & black check print shirts, the simples lines and the sports influence.

Woolrich's company was founded in Pennsylvania, when John Rich and Daniel McCormick founded their first wool's fabric near the stream Plum Run. The first wool products were destributed by John Rich himself, who used to sell textiles, socks and blankets to the woodcutters and their families.

At the time, the construction of the new railways in Pennsylvania, the request of work force and the need of clothings (which served to protect the workers from the cold weather) was the perfect condition for the new-born company; who started producing warmer clothes.

In addition to this, there was a need for the American Army (engaged in a Civil War) of woolen blankets, and subsequently of warmer and resistant clothes for the two World Wars.

The first sartorial success was an indument called "Utility Vest", that represent one of the most iconic piece of the brand: based on comfort, hard-wearing, warm and semplicity

After that the Woolrich company began to grow and introduced new production methods which improved the quality of the products. Throughout the twentieth century the brand became the symbol of the American lifestyle, thanks to some iconic details such as the "red & black check print" and the "Arctic Parka"; that was created in the seventies and nowdays is still an evergreen piece featured the father padding and the fur hood.

During the 1985 the italian company "W.P. Lavori in Corso" set an agreement with Woolrich and aquired a quote who let them taking advantage of the design. After that the "W.P. Lavori in Corso" created a new brand called "Woolrich John Rich & Bros.", that allowed the italian company to concentrate the sales in the first place in Italy, then in the rest of Europe and in Asia.
